Water Detection Paste – Summary of Use
Purpose:
Used to detect the presence of water in various fuel types, including petrol, diesel, paraffin, alcohol blends, and crude oil. The paste changes from green to pink when water is present.
Instructions by Fuel Type:
- Petrol / Paraffin / Diesel
- Dipping time: 10 seconds
- Indication: Colour change from green to pink
- Alcohol / Petrol Blends
- Dipping time: 30 seconds (60 seconds if alcohol dropout exceeds 50%)
- Indication:
- Colour change from green to pink
- Or, paste is washed off the dipstick due to alcohol/water mixture
- Crude Oil
- Dipping time: 30 seconds
- After dipping, rinse dipstick in petrol or solvent
- Indication: Colour change from green to pink shows sludge level
Applications:
- Checking for water in underground tanks at fuel stations or commercial sites
- Monitoring water presence in bulk fuel storage at depots and refineries
